  • Home city: Edmonton, Alberta, Canada

  • Vocation outside music: Fetal & Pediatric Cardiologist, Chief, Pediatric Cardiology, U. Alberta

  • Role in BBSC: vocalist

  • First performance with BBSC: 2008 AHA Rashkind and CHOP meeting   Dr. Tom Karl and I also performed prior to that as "Blue Baby" at Sweetwater Music Hall in Mill Valley (a Bonnie Raitt favorite) when we were both at UCSF with a band made up of his surgical team

  • Major musical influences: Joni Mitchell, Ella Fitzgerald, Peggie Lee, Diana Krall, Adele and Stevie Nicks

  • Favorite musical genres: Jazz, Blues, Folk ...and a little pop

  • My most prized instrument: voice; but also played violin for 16 years and a bit of piano

  • Musical projects outside BBSC: Sing with a band from the Stollery Children’s Hospital for charity events to raise funds for our Fontan and Transplant kids and family camps, and the Children’s CHD Virtual Choir  called “Playing Heart to Get”

  • Favorite non-musical pursuits: hanging with my family, travelling with family, yoga, gardening, skiing, padel

  • What I love about BBSC: The connection with so many old and new friends in the field with the same purpose in our careers (caring for heart kiddies) but also love for music! An amazing outlet; and I have been grateful to Tom and Gil for the fabulous gigs, making it all come together as well as tolerance of my imperfect voice over the years. I am walking on the clouds for weeks after every time we perform!
